User Verification

We keep BoxyBSD as privacy-friendly as possible. We only ask for a username and an email address (used for notifications). Because we collect so little data, verification helps protect the platform from abuse. We verify ownership of your GitHub or Codeberg account with a simple public file.

Step by step

1. Sign up on BoxyBSD.
   Enter your GitHub or Codeberg username during registration.
2. Create a public repository.
   In your GitHub or Codeberg account, create a repository named exactly: boxybsd_verification.
3. Add the verification file.
   Inside that repository, create a text file named verification.txt with this exact content:

4. Make sure it is public.
   You should be able to open the file in your browser without logging in, for example:
   GitHub: https://github.com/<yourusername>/boxybsd_verification/verification.txt
   Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/<yourusername>/boxybsd_verification/src/branch/main/verification.txt
5. Automatic check.
   Our system looks for that exact string in your repository. When it is found, your BoxyBSD account is verified.

Good to know

• The repository name must be boxybsd_verification and the file must be verification.txt.
• The file content must match exactly. Do not add extra text, spaces, or line breaks.
• No additional personal data is required. No phone verification or ID upload.

Once verified, you can start using BoxyBSD right away.
